Keep the area clean by washing it multiple times daily with soap and water.

If you have an abdominal binder, remove it every 8 hours for about 30 minutes while awake. Wear it for at least the first 3 days, or longer if advised.

Swelling is normal and may worsen between days 2-7 but will gradually decrease over the next few months.

A sore throat is common after general anesthesia and should not be alarming.

Keep your head elevated for 3 days if possible, but sleep is more important than maintaining elevation.

If fat was grafted near the eyes, apply ophthalmic antibiotic ointment to the incision daily until your first follow-up.

You may shower the day after surgery but avoid scrubbing near the stitches.

Avoid strenuous physical activities (heavy lifting, running, skiing, etc.) for at least 10 days to minimize swelling and reduce bleeding risks.

You may follow your regular diet post-surgery.

Light bleeding from the incision is normal for the first day or two. Use gauze to lightly wick away blood but avoid rubbing the area.

You may receive pain and antibiotic prescriptions. Arnica montana and bromelain can be used to reduce swelling and are available at most pharmacies, health food stores, or online.

You should have a follow-up appointment about 1 week after surgery. Call to confirm if it hasn’t been scheduled.

Call or text immediately if you notice excessive bleeding, persistent swelling or bruising, a sudden increase in pain or swelling, decreased vision (especially color vision), or increased redness around the eye.
